Get Zeta-Jones Eyes

Eye MakeupWant to have eyes like Catherine Zeta Jones? Try this…

Start with your eyelids and use a medium wine or purple shadow from the lid to the crease. Now apply a thin line of this shade right against the lower lash line.

In the crease of your eyelid, adda deep wine or purple shadow in the crease from corner to corner and blend it thoroughly.

As a highlighter, apply a pearly gold or vanilla very modestly just under the arch of your brow. Use just enough to bring out the sparkle in your eyes. Again, blend very well.

Jennifer Aniston has a sort of timeless beauty that doesn’t require dramatic makeup.  She also proves that its okay to break the “rules” of makeup.  No eyeshadow that is the same color as your eyes?  No black mascara with blonde hair?  Using these tips, its okay to be like Jennifer and break the rules.

Tips For Red-Heads

It seems like you always hear makeup tips for blondes or brunettes.  Well, red-heads, I will not leave you guys out.  These tips are sure to play up that beautiful red hair!

  • Don’t pick foundations with pink or olive undertones.  Pink makes your face look really red and olive tones make you look unhealthy.  Pick a foundation with a slight touch of yellow.
  • Neutral shades work very well like peaches and pinks.  They look very natural with red hair.
  • If you use bronzer, use it lightly.  A rosy blush will give your face a natural radiance.

Shine Like Kate Hudson

The daughter of Goldie Hawn, there’s no question where she gets her looks from.  With minimal makeup, she always glows.  Try these tips to get her look.

Start with your foundation and concealer.  A look like Kate’s requires quite a bit of both.  Put a few dots of concealer under your eyes and on any discolorations or other spots on your face.  Blend in toward the inner eye.  Then, using either a sponge or your fingertips, apply a very lightweight foundation and blend, blend, blend!  Next is the blush, which needs to be applied with a large blush brush.  Add a touch of rosy color to your cheeks and set the look with a translucent powder.

Skin Healthy Foods

As I mentioned above, eating vitamin rich foods is great for your skin.  If you don’t pay attention to the foods you’re consuming, your skin will show it.  So, what are some good foods to eat to improve your skin?

Start with any low-fat dairy product.  They are very rich in Vitamin A, which is good for your skin.  Nutrition expert, Liz Lipski, says that the vitamin found in low-fat dairy is “true A” so its good for all skin types.  Low-fat yogurt is not only high in “true A”, it contains a live bacteria called acidophilus.  Acidophilus has been known to help with intestinal health, but turns out to also have a good impact on your skin!

Improve Your Complexion

I get asked all the time how I keep my complexion and my skin looking so great.  The truth is I wasn’t born with it.  It takes work.  Here are a few tips I’ve been using for a few years and they have yet to fail me.

  1. Keep yourself hydrated.  Eight glasses of water a day!
  2. Use a face mask with either cucumber juice, lemon juice or rose water.  All three works best.
  3. Put some unflavored plain and simple yogurt on your face and leave it for a few minutes.

More Homemade Facials

Some are probably tired of seeing recipes for homemade facials, but I’m very fond of them.  They are wonderful for women on a budget who still want to be pampered.  Plus, sometimes home remedies are the best.  Here are a few more great facials.

Simply crack an egg and separate the yolk from the white.  Beat the white until its frothy and then smear on your face.  Leave on for fifteen minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water.  This tones and tightens your skin while leaving it feeling nice and smooth.

  • Spray your face with a fine mist of water and the blot with a tissue

  • Blend in some moisturizer

  • Dampen your makeup sponge and blend, blend, blend

♥Too Much Powder♥

  • Again, the light mist of H2O

When Is Makeup Too Old?

I always thought that makeup never expired and I could use it until it was gone.  That is so not the case.  If you can go through your makeup bag and find eyeshadow that’s 3 years old, then it is really time to throw out the old and bring in the new.  Also, if you’ve had an eye infection, throw out everything that you used on that eye and replace it!  Old makeup can be home to several infection causing bacteria.  So, when should you replace it?
