Beauty and the Beholder

Model Applying Makeup Bob Pardue Photography“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” There is so much pressure in today’s society placed on beauty. Girls grow up striving to achieve their image of the ideal woman. Models have a single focus to maintain their “perfect” image. What effect does this have on the modern day woman? So much money is spent on beautification techniques and cosmetics, not to mention rejuvenation and anti-aging products. Spas charge large fees to help women feel good, look good . . . and women pay it! It’s important to remember that stage and television makeup is applied differently than daily wear makeup.

Washing your face and maintaining the cleanliness of the pores, allowing the skin to “breathe” is the most vital beauty tip of all, (and one of the cheapest). It is important to rid the face of dirt and make up residue. Cleansing, toning and moisturizing are the first essentials to beauty care. “Beauty is skin deep!”

Television or studio lights reduce the amount of make-up a woman wears. In order for the camera to pick up the maximum effect of the woman’s beauty, make-up must be applied lavishly, compared to every day use. This entails a heavier coat, with extra contrast and more powder. (Often make-up artists are seen powdering actors/actresses faces under the strong lights). Foundation is also key and must be spread evenly, and matched along the neckline and the chin. The greatest beauty of all comes from inside, out!
