Bobbi Brown
Bobbi Brown is a professional makeup artist with her own line of cosmetics products. About her life in makeup, Bobbi says ” I wanted to look like Cheryl Tiegs when I was 13 years old. She was thin, blue-eyed, and blonde - the epitome of beauty in the late ’60s. I couldn’t have looked any more different - and I spent a lot of time feeling bad about what I wasn’t. Then I saw Ali MacGraw in “Love Story” and I finally saw the possibility of my own beauty. This epiphany impacted how I viewed myself, how I saw other women and it ultimately led me to my career as a makeup artist.”
Eventually Bobbi attended Emerson College in Boston, where she earned a degree in theatrical makeup. Afterwards she headed for New Yoirk city and began her career as a professional makeup artist. This was during the 1980’s period when makeup was loud and colorful. Bobbi did not like the look and found it did not flatter a woman’s natural beauty. She was constantly mixing and blending commercial makeup products to create a palette that enahnces the natural skin tones and actually looked good.
At a magazine photo shoot, Bobbi met a chemist and began working with her idea to develop a flattering lipstick. She came up with 10 gorgeous shades of brown-based lipsticks. Her line of lipsticks had its debut in 1991 at Bergdorf Goodman in New York City. Women immediately took to her flattering makeup and realistic approach to beauty.
