Brush, Cream or Stain Your Blush

If you have just worked 12 hours or are looking at a long hard day and are now expected to be the sexy momma, the high-browed hostess, or the dewy-eyed ingénue, try one of these techniques

Powder is very popular today. It is a lot of fun to get a large powder brush, dip it into a pinky coral shade, the shade of loveliness wherever you live, and dust the apples of your cheeks. No harsh lines or splotches, just a 60 second glow. More drama you say? Sweep your temples and forehead.

Blend Does not Mean Bland

Applying make up is an art, but don’t let Picasso’s perfectionist pickiness overcome you. He would throw out canvas upon canvas of masterpieces, crazed by his pursuit of perfection. You have one face given to you and it is already perfect. There is no need to throw anything out.

Makeup is just an enhancement tool. We create masks for different roles and occasions to express the nature of ourselves that best suits the occasion. So, when you are applying blush, choose bright shades and be noticed. Dull, bland colors just make you look muddy or hollow. Apply color to your cheeks and let them be seen.

Blush Girls!

Who say’s girls don’t blush in today’s world, I see girls blushing every day, and evening in every color from pink, to peach, to golden bronze. Blush is a tired girls best friend, it brings color to too pale cheeks, highlights those fabulous cheekbones and in the evening brings a shimmer of mystery to that special date, with that special someone. Out there in makeup world we have cream blush, powder blush and for the evening, blushes that sparkle and shimmer in seductive tones of gold and bronze.

Blush brings out that fresh dewy look we all seem to lack at seven o’clock in the morning, when nature puts us girls in a less than flattering light. We look more vibrant, we gently glo, after we glide that silky brush up over our newly applied foundation our cheekbones suddenly emerge, we look fresh, youthful and ready to take on the world. If you have sensitive skin there are non-irritating blushes out there for the delicate flower that you are, in fact in today’s word we can all blush with confidence. So girls let me just say one more thing  too you and your glowing cheekbones, may the blush be with you!

Raw Natural Beauty

Raw Natural Beauty helps women look their best without putting potentially harmful, irritating ingredients on their skin. Much of RNB’s time is spent on researching new ingredients, technologies and resources from around the world to offer women the safest options available. RNB’s goal is to help change the beauty industry to develop higher standards and “green” methodologies of product development, performance and safety.

RNB created a fabulous natural, look with mineral-based makeup called “Naked Illumination”. Here are the steps to creating that look:

Katie’s Glow

Katie Holmes has the most gorgeous glowing look, it’s no wonder we all love her. She starts with an exfoliating scrub and applies as much moisturizer as is needed, depending on all the conditions involved. She gets her glow by blending her foundation with a moistened sponge and does NOT set it with powder.

She uses a beige eye shadow across her eyelids all the way into the crease and blends to avoid lines. She tops it off with a creamy white shadoe under the arch of her brows. She draws a thin line with dark brown eyeliner on her lower lash line and gently blends it.  Line the lower rim of your lash line with a dark brown eyeliner and lightly blend. When she wants added drama, she adds a few single false lashes to her upper lash line. Then she coats all her eyelashes with dark brown mascara.

Blushing the Right Way

There is an easy way to apply blush to give you just the right look. Start by placing your index and middle finger vertically against the side of your nose. Using a brush, stroke the blush onto your face from near the edge of the outer finger, moving up toward your temple.

Ladies, if you have a broad face, either round or suqare, apply your blush across your cheekbones only. Do not take it up towards your ears. For all face shapes, dabbing a touch of blush on your earlobes can add a pretty glow to your face, with both long and short hair. The reason makeup artists will also give a light dusting to their clients’ chins and foreheads, is to help give it a more natural appearance.

Mineral Powders

Mineral powder makeup is as natural as you can get. It has no talc, no chemicals, no fillers and no dyes. They are creates from finely crushed, high pigment minerals. They work well after cosmetic treatments and don’t stimulate allergic reactions or clog pores. They protect against UV radiation because of the titanium dioxide and zinc oxide at the base. The zinc oxide, in the mineral powder is anti inflammatory and helps with rosacea and skin blemishes. The absence of talc helps with the skin’s hydration.

Get Ready For Spring!

springmakeup.jpgWith spring right around the corner, it is best to start breaking out all of your spring makeup to get prepared. Although many like to wear the same colors year round,
it is always good to try something new to bring out your best features.

Since I don’t have a tan during the spring season, I like to use lighter shades of eye shadow and blush, since darker colors only make my skin look even paler than it is.

It’s Time to Blush

face_blush_makeup.jpgGoing for that healthy glow? You want to use blush to warm up your look. It is not necessary, but it does soften the features of your beautiful face. It promotes vitality in a glowing way.   No matter what look you go for, consider your skin tone when deciding on a color. A great way to decide which color suits best is to pinch your cheeks. This is your natural color.

Smile to find the apples of your cheeks. Take your fluffy brush and make circular motions from your apples out and blend. Go easy on the color, light is usually better. One of the preferred looks is the snow bunny. Apply translucent loose powder for a matte finish. Then apply a rosy color to the cheeks. Complete the look with pink on the lips. You just came in out of the snow. Another preferred look is the California girl. You look great with tanned skin. Apply bronze just under the cheek bones in a circular pattern. The color should be one shade darker than your natural tone. Don’t forget your forehead, nose and chin for the complete look. Your mood will decide which look you are going for. Either way, you will look fabulous.

Blush Baby

Blush PowderLike DaVinci or Monet, we use our brushes and paint to create a thing of beauty. With makeup, it’s all about complementing and enhancing our features - bringing out our very best. The proper use of blush will do just that to enhance your face. It will warm up your skin, add color, define and contour, enhance or tone down your cheekbones. It can create the slimmer appearance or the illusion of a rounder face. It’s your choice how to use blush. Study your face, what do you want to enhance? Do you need more color? Do you need more shape? You are the artist.

Blush is extremely versatile, but use lightly, it will darken as your body temperature rises. Choose your blush based on the pigment of your skin. If your skin undertone is cool, use blush colors that are mauve or pink. If your skin undertone is warm, use orange or yellow blush colors. Experiment with your skin to bring out your best tones.

Blush comes in creams or compacts. It is available in pink, brown, or peach. Natural colors are excellent. Cream blush is great for those with dry skin; they contain moisturizers for your skin. Powder compacts are the easiest to apply. Apply your foundation and blend blush to it. Be subtle and blend the edges well. Choose a high quality brush for application. You want to radiate a healthy glow. Paint the image of natural beauty.
