3 Cheers for Lipstick!

Those lips were made for kissing, and to make your lips irresistibly more kissable, the makeup world manifested lipstick. It comes in every imaginable shade of pinks, peaches, reds, oranges; browns, purples, burgundies - and saints help us, black.

Women have colored their lips since the land before time, signaling to men their kiss ability, saying “Hey! Get a load of these babies.”

Lips for Kissing

Women have been coloring their lips for as far back as we can remember; from berry juice to Revlon we have come a long way. When we think of lipstick we automatically think of kissing, when young women put on lipstick for a date it’s in the hopes that it will be kissed of by the end of the night. We wear lipstick basically so our lips will be noticed, we are saying, come and get me, my lips are sexy, some people may disagree with me. But give me another reason for wearing lipstick!

To keep our lips soft we have lip balm, we even have colored lip balm. So we don’t need lipstick for that reason, see it is all leading back to the kissing thing. We may wear a sweet innocent pink or a girl next-door peach that invites a chaste kiss on the cheek. Or we wear a sizzling. Rip roaring red that seductively say’s kiss these babies if you dare. Our lipstick tells the story of the mood we are in, coy and sweet or red hot and daring. Light lips are preferable for during the day, but for evening anything goes. Today’s evening lip wear even has some sparkle to it, There is no such word as boredom in today’s lipstick world, when you go out your lips may be saying,’ hey your lips better be flameproof if your going to lock lips with me’, So be daring, sweet or sultry let your lipstick speak for you.

Bobbi Brown

Bobbi Brown is a professional makeup artist with her own line of cosmetics products. About her life in makeup, Bobbi says ” I wanted to look like Cheryl Tiegs when I was 13 years old. She was thin, blue-eyed, and blonde - the epitome of beauty in the late ’60s. I couldn’t have looked any more different - and I spent a lot of time feeling bad about what I wasn’t. Then I saw Ali MacGraw in “Love Story” and I finally saw the possibility of my own beauty. This epiphany impacted how I viewed myself, how I saw other women and it ultimately led me to my career as a makeup artist.”

Katie’s Glow

Katie Holmes has the most gorgeous glowing look, it’s no wonder we all love her. She starts with an exfoliating scrub and applies as much moisturizer as is needed, depending on all the conditions involved. She gets her glow by blending her foundation with a moistened sponge and does NOT set it with powder.

She uses a beige eye shadow across her eyelids all the way into the crease and blends to avoid lines. She tops it off with a creamy white shadoe under the arch of her brows. She draws a thin line with dark brown eyeliner on her lower lash line and gently blends it.  Line the lower rim of your lash line with a dark brown eyeliner and lightly blend. When she wants added drama, she adds a few single false lashes to her upper lash line. Then she coats all her eyelashes with dark brown mascara.

J.Lo’s Beauty Tips

jennifer_lopez_makeup.jpgJennifer Lopez has a really basic beauty routine. She refreshes herself every morning and then uses lots of moisturizer. Even though she has that golden just-been-in-the-sun look, she takes care to portect her skin form the sun. She has a natural radiance that she accentuated with neutral shades of makeup for her eyes and lips — so sheer it’s almost transparent. In her makeup bag for quick touch ups she always carries lip gloss, perfume, mascara, moisturizer and bronzer. Moisturizer is extremely important to her and she would never be caught without it.

“When it comes to lips, think big! Our customers wanted more ways to plump, so we have taken our beloved Goldie Lip Plump formula and added color. One to try: Lip Plump in Fiddle (a rose pink).

Wear shimmer all the time - day or night. It instantly makes you appear younger and more rested. To make it even easier for you to apply shimmer, Goldie is introducing Shimmer Powder Puffs. Each small, plastic jar contains loose shimmer powder that can be applied with the powder puff that is attached to the lid.

Sexy Sultry Lips

Kate Winslet LipglossVoluptuous lips are in. A few years back there a rumor that Angelina Jolie had surgery to enhance her plump full lips. The arrival of her daughter, Shiloh, squelched that gossip. Shiloh has them too. Their lips are natural; unfortunately, most of us have to work a little more. Here are some tips to help you fashion your own enchanting lips:

Exfoliate your kisser. Once a week cover your lips with some Vaseline. Let it soak in for five minutes. Wet your toothbrush with warm water and lightly brush your lips. They will tingle. Smooth on lipstick and THEN apply lip liner. It will bring out the fullness of your lips.

Succulent Winter Lips

Beautiful LipstickLike a succulent strawberry, your lips must be equally delectable. For all of you divas out there, it is important to keep your lips kissably moist. Here’s quick tip. Put your favorite lip gloss into the refrigerator. This makes the flavor refreshing and brings out the fullness of the flavor. Remember to use your lip balm often for scrumptious lips…

Take a lip liner pencil; follow the outer boundary of your ambrosial lips. Apply with even pressure and gently color the fullness of your lips. Now fill in with your favorite lip stick. For the piece-de-resistance, finish off with shiny lip gloss. Your lips will look glorious.

Tip.  The winter is a rough time on the lips. The extreme temperatures wreak havoc on our beautiful lips. One way to deal with is the obvious, moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. Lip balm rules. Apply often. Purchase your lip balm with a SPF factor to screen out harmful ultraviolet rays. Don’t lick or bite your lips, the skin will never heal. For aching lips, gently apply warm sesame oil. It will cool the burn and moisturize as well.

Lips Worth Kissing

Beautiful LipstickOK,  all you chameleons out there, let’s have some fun! We’re talkng lipstick here. You create the rules. Best of all, every color choice changes your appearance… dramatically.   Lipstick adds color, defines and highlights your lips, and brings harmony to your face. You can tweak your lip color to embody the effect you desire to create. Why curb your look to a particular image when you can choose a different color to bring out your best. From soothing pinks to fiery reds, your look changes in a breathtaking fashion. Remember to balance with your blusher for the best results.

Your choice of lip color should augment and accent the clothing you will be wearing. A general rule of thumb is style of dress. If a formal engagement, deeper more rich colors are very appropriate, like dark reds. If tonight is casual, a natural tone would be complimentary. But remember, you make the rules. Top makeup artists test their color choices in natural light, canned light can alter your look and cancel out what you are going for. Try it on your kisser and check out its effects. You should look fabulous, darling.
